Residents revel in musical fireworks
Last night Newham Councils annual fireworks display saw more then 33,000 residents enjoy a the fantastic spectacle, choreographed to a medley of past and present popular music.
23,000 people watched the rockets soar from the site in Wanstead flats, whilst another 10,000 looked on from outside the site and in neighbouring streets, despite the large crowds the event went off without a hitch.
Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham said: “I am always happy to see so many families enjoying themselves at our popular Guy Fawkes Night and I am very proud to offer this evening to residents free of charge”
The display started with Led Zeppelins stairway to heaven, also used in the finale, other great hits included Joan Jett’s I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, Mr Blue Sky by the Electric Light Orchestra and Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling. Families in attendance particularly enjoyed watching gold sparkling explosions along to the theme music of Beauty and the Beast.
