Vunerable Newham Residents take trip to Margate
400 vulnerable adult residents were taken on a day out to margate this week by Newham Community Neighbourhood Teams, coaches from each of the eight teams travelled to the Kent seaside resort to help isolated people meet each other.
The trips took place over the span of three days, residents were joined by local councillors and members of community teams and the coaches were laid on for free by Goldline from Leytonstone.
Whilst in margate they visited the seafront, visited the beach as well as look around shops and get to meet their fellow travellers, enjoying the seaside classic fish n chips.
Deputy Mayor (Statutory) for Strategic Delivery and Cabinet Member for Community Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Planning and Public Affairs, Councillor Ken Clark, said: “These trips were a huge success and everyone who went had a fantastic time.
“They were aimed at giving some of our vulnerable residents an enjoyable day out while also helping them meet new people and make new friendships.
“The whole ethos of community neighbourhoods is creating strong and cohesive communities and these trips are just one way of helping to achieve this aim.”
