Kormac Releases Stream Of ‘White Noise’ Ahead Of New Album
Dublin based artist Kormac, championed by Annie Mac, DJ Food, DJ Yoda and Mr. Scruff, Releases Stream Of ‘White Noise’ featuring Speech Debelle Ahead Of New Album ‘Doorsteps’, released on Bodytonic Records October 20th.
DJ Kormac originally started his DJ career using a collection full of vintage instrumentals, jazz drum solos and spoken-word pieces, sourced from second hand and junk stores, which would go on to form the basis of his sound for his first 2 EP’s and debut LP ‘Word Play’. His inspiration lying heavily in the old movies of a past era.
DJ Kormacs debut featured DJ Yoda, Koaste, DJ Cheeba, Messiah J & The Expert and MC Little Tree. DJing at nightclubs, venues and festivals across the world, Kormac’s success of his debut album had him sharing stages with the likes of Nas, Sonic Youth, Jurassic 5 and Sigur Ros.
Moving on to recording his own source material Kormac has used a portable set up to take recordings from legendary Irvine Welsh, Micah P. Hinson, Mercury Music Prize winner Speech Debelle, Bonobo vocalist and spoken-word artist Bajka, Vyvienne Long and a variety of rappers, soloists and opera singers. These recordings along with several Big Band studio sessions have become the basis of his new material and upcoming, much anticipated, 10 tracks of unique brilliance that is ‘Doorsteps’.
When performing his solo material live Kormac is joined by a 10 piece Big Band. After taking to the stage of Annie Mac’s Amp Night she called them “the most bizarre set-up I’ve ever seen – but it really works”. The strange group started out in festival dance tents before graduating to the main stages of Glastonbury, Bestival and Electric Picnic, then touring throughout Europe, Asia and Africa, going on to support Portishead and The Flaming Lips in Australia.
