Tickets for Rugby World Cup 2015 on sale now
Newham are encouraging their residents to show their support for Rugby World Cup 2015 by applying for tickets, which are on public sale as of today (12th September) until monday September 29 2014. Pupils from Plaistow’s Curwen School and members of East London Rugby Club in West Ham helped promote the opening of the Rugby World Cup 2015′s ticket sales window, as pictured left.
Newham is a Host city with one of the three stadiums used for the tournament being he Olympic Stadium in Stratford’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Five of the World Cup matches will be played at the newest stadium in england as follows:
France v Romania – 8pm, Weds September 23 2015
New Zealand v Namibia – 8pm, Thurs September 24 2015
Ireland v Italy – 4.45pm, Sun October 4 2015
South Africa v USA – 4.45pm, Weds October 7 2015
Bronze Final – 8pm, Fri October 30 2015
Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales said: “We are proud and excited to be Host City of Rugby World Cup 2015 at the iconic Olympic Stadium. Newham showed during the 2012 Games that we can create a festival atmosphere and we want 2015 to be a celebration of Rugby and its unique qualities.”
Tickets come in four price categories for all 48 matches, starting at £15 for Adults and £7 for children (available for 41 matches) Fans need to create an account at tickets.rugbyworldcup.com and can apply for up to four tickets per match.
Matches and/or price categories that are oversubscribed will go to a ballot to make ticket allocation fair, they are not being sold on a first come first served basis. Fans will find out which tickets they have successfully been allocated in October 2014.
Residents seeking to obtain tickets for the Rugby World Cup are being asked to buy only from the official website, or through official travel and hospitality providers that guarantee entry to the tournament, to avoid ticket fraud.
Sir Robin explained: “We anticipate being able to secure a limited number of free tickets for Newham residents for matches at the Stadium, but at the moment the best way for people to get behind Rugby World Cup 2015 to is to apply through the official tickets website.”
