My first flip phone was Razr sharp: literally.
Phones with color screens and cameras were on the rise the Nokia 8210 was heading the way as one of the first truly popular phones in this league and then it came; the Razr.
For its time it was razor thin, with the thinest profile to date on a clamshell, a flip phone with a (dimensions) screen of beautiful color. A black version was produced for distribution in the 77th Academy Awards gift bags, released in May 2005.
I had the Matt Black version of the V3, which i got in early 2006, and it was the first time my phone truly fit in those smaller then usual female pockets on my jeans.
The Razr had an electroluminescent keypad made from one piece of wafer thin metal. The camera was exceptional at 1 megapixels with an 4x digital zoom and the flip design meant the screen could have maximum capacity to show off my snaps.
The screen on the front displayed the usual incoming calls and sms data on a blue display and you had to flip the phone open first before you could answer a call.
I remember it loosing charge very quickly, or maybe I just played with it too much, it charged with a mini usb port that was handy because it had a similar charger to my mp3 player. Though the headphones which i nearly immediately lost plugged in that way too which was limiting for a replacement set.
Later versions had an SD slot that meant the Razr could be an mp3 player that was better then my dedicated one working with Motorola Digital Audio Player or iTunes depending on which version you got.
I would say I loved the phone to death but actually it was stolen from me on a 25 bus by a mugger in the summer of 2006. For the first time I knew the pain of loosing all my photos instead of just all my phone contacts, and it hurt.
