Spring into action with Newham ParkLives 2018
For the fifth year in a row Newham is talking part in the ParkLives initiative encouraging residents to get some exercise whilst enjoying the open spaces the borough has to offer.
The program is delivered by activeNewham in a collaboration between Newham council and Coca-Cola and is aimed at people of all ages and abilities, providing fun activities for residents, that are all free.
There will be an official launch of the 2018 ParkLives spring and summer programme on Saturday April 21 at Stratford Park, West Ham Lane, Stratford, E15 4PT from 12noon – 4pm.
Mark Perkins, Commissioning Leader, Community Neighbourhoods, Leisure and Culture for Newham Council said: “The ParkLives programme has always been extremely popular in Newham, and this year residents will be able to enjoy an even greater variety of free, fun activities. At the launch event Newham’s residents have the opportunity to try out as many activities as they can all in one day.”
At the launch there will be a range of free activities including badminton, karate, yoga, salsa dancing, parkour, self-defence and golf. The event will also be taking advantage of the brand new tennis courts in Stratford Park where they will be providing rackets and balls, giving people the chance to try their hand at the sport.
The spring programme runs from 23 April to 15 July. The summer programme will start on Monday 23 July and run through to Sunday 2 September 2018.
